Superman and Spiderman were perfect humans to become super heros. They could stitch their super suits on their own. They were good public speakers (Superman saying bold and firm – “Statistically speaking, it’s (airplane) still the safest way to travel”. So what, if they were from small towns . Despite all the stress (when they are human and when they are super human), they are not drunks. Typically they have inherent tolerance to criticism – well, unless Spiperman is black suited

Hancock, on the other hand, is found drunk on a road side bench, when he is needed to catch some criminals. He is woken by a kid who reminds him to do his job. That is how the movie starts.

Hancock does not like people who abuse him. People do not like his way of dealing with things. He tosses and destroys a car to save a driver, breaks through high rise hoardings while flying. Made me wonder, how Superman and Spiderman are so perfect in flying and jumping. Hancock finds it difficult to thank people, especially cops. And he does not wear a perfect, tight, shinning super suit. He dresses like junkies.

So who turns him around? Nopes not a girl (thankfully, not again). And that’s the concept I liked. Because the person who makes Hancock a presentable super hero is indeed a person who can make anyone and anything presentable. A PR (Public Relation) guy!

This PR guy is not appreciated for his honest work and for his way of thinking to “change the world”. Hence, he takes up the task of making Hancock an acceptable and well behaved super hero.

Peter Parker, though a geek, was artistic enough to design his own Spider suit. But Hancock’s super suit is gifted to him by the PR guy! Mr. PR teaches him how to speak, present himself, be humble (and much more).

So up to the interval, what kept me glued to the seat is the story of the hilarious transformation of a badly behaved super hero to a super hero.

There is a little, so called suspense in the movie whether Hancock is the one and only of his kind. Won’t mention it here for those who still haven’t seen the movie. But thereafter starts somewhat usual emotional drama and it continues from the interval, till the end.

So do go and watch the movie for the meaningful comedy up to the interval. Cannot guarantee whether you would like the movie after the interval. Don’t go to watch it for special effects. The special effects are numbered and kinda fine, but my attention was grabbed by the story, the concept and the comedy.
