From what I read, Amazon should refund the courier charges. But I don’t have a first hand experience on this. So do confirm this with Amazon support and the process on how will you or the person (who gifted you the Kindle) will get a refund. Please do come back and share your experience. Didn’t you get the USB power adapter along with the USB cable? The USB cable can go into this adapter and you can charge your Kindle through an AC outlet.

Kindle charges through micro USB. So you can buy any Micro USB cable to charge it through your laptop. To charge it through an AC outlet, you can buy a USB to AC adapter. It is commonly available in any computer or peripheral accessories shop.

Yep! But don’t keep charging it every night. Charge only when the battery is low.
